Our ambulances are a familiar sight on the streets of London. They provide a vital lifeline to animals that would often otherwise miss out on medical attention.

Transporting pets to Blue Cross hospitals

Many owners are housebound and physically unable – through illness, disability or the frailness of age – to cope with the difficulties of getting a pet to hospital. The arrival of our ambulance is always welcome sight, and the drivers have to cope with a demanding workload. Sometimes it is hard to walk away; the ambulance driver may be the first person to visit for some days.

The pets are transported, treated and returned to their owners by ambulance, with as many follow up visits as necessary.

There are other calls as well, such as emergency calls to injured strays with no-one to rush them to the hospitals, or gathering up lost ducklings that are wandering the streets of London. They may lack the glamour of flashing lights and sirens, but Blue Cross ambulances have been lifesavers for hundreds of animals.
