Pet owners living outside the catchment areas of Blue Cross hospitals and clinics may be eligible to benefit from the Blue Cross Veterinary Care Fund. Read our veterinary care fund leaflet for information on this service. Formerly called the Animal Welfare Grants Scheme, the initiative has been relaunched under the new name of The Blue Cross Veterinary Care Fund and has increased available funding for pet owners. Eligibility Grants can be made for the treatment of cats, dogs and rabbits and, in exceptional cases, other companion animals at our discretion. The contributions can be made towards treatment of illnesses, accidents and neutering, but not for routine treatments such as vaccinations, de-worming and defleaing. The payments for treatment are paid directly to the veterinary practice treating the pet. The Veterinary Care Fund is available to people who are on means tested benefits, the state retirement pension (with no other significant income) and low incomes. An application can be made through the Blue Cross customer care team either from individual pet owners or through the vet who is treating the animal. We will need evidence that the owner is eligible for a grant. For more information about the Veterinary Care Fund or how clients can apply, please contact The Blue Cross customer care team on: |
