21 - 31 October 2010 Level: Challenging This superb trek takes place in the foothills of the magnificent Indian Himalayas. After a short stop in Delhi, head to the enchanting town of Dharamsala, residence of the Dalai Lama with a distinct Tibetan influence. Before starting the challenge there is chance to visit the Dalai Lamas house and monastery. The trekking route follows mountain trails offering spectacular vistas across sweeping green valleys and snow-capped mountain ranges. Sleep under canvas in picturesque surroundings far from the stress of every day life. Finish with a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra before flying home. DAY 1: Fly London Delhi. DAY 2: Free time in Delhi. Sleeper train to Pathankot. DAY 3: Coach transfer Pathankot Dharamsala. Free time to explore Dalai Lamas home. DAY 4: Start trekking into mountains. 7-8 hrs DAY 5: Hike through small villages to riverside camp. 7-8 hrs DAY 6: Wonderful views of Dhaula Dahr mountain range. 6-7 hrs DAY 7: Challenging day. Trek on glacier. 7-8 hrs DAY 8: Steep descent to Dharamsala. Celebratory meal. 6-7 hrs DAY 9: To Pathankot for sleeper to Agra. DAY 10: Time to explore the Taj Mahal, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. DAY 11: Early morning transfer to Delhi. Fly Delhi - London.
