The Blue Cross takes the lead for homeless pets in north Devon

30/04/2008

The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Tiverton is inviting people to join in the fun with staff and dogs on their annual canal walk to help raise essential funds for local homeless pets. The charity is appealing for supporters to walk as far as possible on Sunday 11 May alongside a beautiful 11-mile stretch of the Tiverton canal.

The money raised through sponsorship will help animals like Floyd, a lovely six-year-old dalmation who came to the centre  when his owners could no longer care for him. Floyd is a playful dog with lots of energy and would like to continue his training in his new home. He is very intelligent and willing to learn and would be a great only pet in an adult home.Floyd loves to play and meet up with new doggy pals.

Sally Dawes, Blue Cross volunteer co-ordinator said: We hope lots of animal lovers join us for this year's Blue Cross walk which is always a great fun day out. If you can't do the walk yourself then why not sponsor Floyd? All the money we raise through this event will go such a long way to helping us care for the needy homeless pets we have at the centre until they find loving new homes.

There will be a prize for the supporter that raises the most funds and special rosettes will be given to all dogs taking part. For more information about the canal walk and registering to take part please contact Sally at The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Tiverton on 01884 855291 or visit The Blue Cross at Chilton Gate, Bickleigh, Tiverton, EX16 8RS.
