A brand new Blue Cross adoption centre on London Road, Lewknor, opens its doors for the areas needy pets on 15 April, with Bill Heine, charity supporter and BBC Oxford presenter, cutting the ribbon. The new adoption centre replaces one in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, and will rehome dogs, cats and other small animals. The centres facilities will help animals like Lewie, who will be the centres first dog. Lewie, a five-year-old mastiff, was found wandering Lewisham with a terrible ear infection which had spread across his face. He has now been treated by Blue Cross vets. Centre manager Julie Stone said: The centre is looking fantastic and will offer the highest standards to the animals in our care waiting for new homes. The cattery will open in August, so for the first few months we will be focussing on dogs looking for loving new homes, including the lovely Lewie. We hope to continue the success of our Chalfont centre, and are looking forward to meeting friends, old and new. Come and visit us! The centre will be open to the public from 11am on 15 April 2005. It is located on London Road, Lewknor, Oxon OX49 5RY. The opening hours are Wednesday -Monday 11am - 4pm, Bank holidays 11am 2pm. The centre will be closed all day Tuesdays.
