Canine supporters gift to hospital

The Blue Cross’s Grimsby Animal Hospital Appeal has received a generous pledge of £5,000 from The Canine Supporters Charity.

The cheque, received by the appeal director Tony Samuel at the Windsor Dog Show, will pay for the modern dispensary store at the Blue Cross’s new hospital, which opened for business on Wednesday 13 July on Nelson Street, Grimsby. With two modern operating theatres, four examination clinics and a new laboratory, the hospital will continue to provide the high standard of care that The Blue Cross has given pets in Grimsby since 1959.

Tony Samuel said: “We are delighted to accept this generous gift from The Canine Supporters Charity which will help The Blue Cross fulfill the aims of both our charities – namely to promote the welfare of dogs, and responsible pet ownership.”

Local people have helped raise thousands for the new state-of-the-art hospital. The hospital at the old site was becoming increasingly cramped and the staff were struggling to provide treatment there.

Regional fundraiser, Julie Donn said: “This pledge will help ensure that local pets in the area will always have access to the highest standards of care. We still need more funds, so any further donations are extremely welcome.”

Anyone who would like to help the charity reach its appeal target can call 01472 353435.
