The Blue Cross Britain's pet charity

Charity holds dressage event

The Blue Cross is holding a dressage competition on Wednesday 10 August at its equine rehabilitation centre in Burford.

The competition, which includes classes for even the most novice riders, has been organised by the charity to raise funds for its unique work rehabilitating needy horse and ponies. The charity would like the event to raise awareness that The Blue Cross rehomes all rounders as well as companions.

One such horse is Guinness, a 16.2hh Shire/Thoroughbred cross, that came into the Burford centre when he became too much for his owner. After a short time with Blue Cross staff he found a perfect new home with an experienced new owner who competes regularly in dressage competitions. With the help of a trainer, Guinness has qualified for the British Riding Clubs National Dressage Championship.

The Blue Cross’s dressage event will have three classes, costing £5 - £7 to enter. The centre will take entries until Wednesday 3 August.

For further information on the event and the rules and conditions of entry, please call the Burford centre on 01993 822454 or email rebecca.wadham@bluecross.org.uk.
