Boris Johnson, the MP for Henley, will unveil a commemorative plaque and officially open the new Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Lewknor on Friday 9 September at 10am. A ceremony will take place with invited guests from the local area and Blue Cross supporters. The centre has been operational since April, and is now completed, with kennels and a cattery. The Blue Cross has been looking after the areas needy pets for the last sixty years and this new centre offers the highest standard of facilities and care for homeless animals. Many animals have already been rehomed from the centre, including Luke, a collie puppy, who appeared on the Paul OGrady Show. Centre manager, Julie Stone said: The centre is now up and running, and we are delighted to be able to celebrate with local people and Blue Cross supporters. We are very grateful to Boris Johnson for coming to unveil the plaque and declare the centre finished. We look forward to carrying on the work we have been doing in this area for the last six decades and helping more pets find the homes they deserve. The centre is open from Wednesday -Monday 11am - 4pm, Bank holidays 11am 2pm and is closed all day Tuesdays. The centre is situated on Blue Cross adoption centre, London Road, Lewknor, Oxon OX49 5RY.
