Pets to be blessed

Britain’s pet charity, The Blue Cross, will be attending the annual animal service and blessing of pets at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4 October, at St Augustine’s Church, Legsby Ave, Grimsby.

The sermon will be given by the Right Reverend David Rossdale, Bishop of Grimsby. Father Stephen of St Augustine’s Church will conduct the service, held on the feast day of the patron saint of animals, St Francis of Assisi. 

Animal themed hymns and prayers will be included in the service that will also remember loved pets that have died.  Animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome to attend the service and each furry or feathered member of the congregation will be blessed.

All donations received from the service will help the new Blue Cross animal hospital in Grimsby continue fulfilling its role caring for sick and abandoned animals. Julie Donn, Blue Cross regional fundraiser, will talk about the valuable service that the hospital provides for local people.
