The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Torbay is desperate to find the owners of a kitten found straying by police in the cold weather. Staff have called the kitten Mitten while they wait to see if her owner comes forward. The kitten is young, timid, and well looked after. Staff suspect that Mitten might have been let out on her own for the first time when she has strayed too far and became lost. Sadly, she does not have a microchip which would have made her return immediate and easy. Centre manager Laura Valentine said: Mitten is very affectionate and must be missed by someone somewhere. We would love to return her very soon, and will do when someone can identify her. We would appeal to all pet owners to microchip their animals so that if they stray or get lost they can be returned. Low cost microchipping is available to pet owners on reduced income for a small donation, please contact the Torbay centre for details. If anyone thinks Mitten might be theirs, they can call The Blue Cross animal adoption centre on 01803 327 728, or visit Ashley Priors Lane, Watcombe, Torquay, Devon, TQ1 4SE. -ends- Media contact: Su Crown Direct line: 020 7932 4066 Mobile: 07880 781 637 Notes to editors The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners.
