Animal charity competition to name a cuddly cat

The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Torbay is holding a competition for Devon's animal lovers to name their brand new cat costume.

The costume has been sponsored by Hill's pet nutrition and will be making appearances at shows and events around the county this year. The adoption centre would like local animal lovers to enter the competition to choose the name of the cat and be in with a chance of winning a prize of Hill's cat or dog food.

Centre manager Laura Valentine said: Our new cat costume is a great way of drawing attention to the work of The Blue Cross, especially our Torbay centre which rehomes only cats. We would like to find an apt name for this cuddly feline and will reward the winner with Hill's cat or dog food. We will see everyone out and about this year at shows around the county.

Hopefuls can enter the competition by calling the adoption centre for an entry form on 01803 327 728, emailing torbay@bluecross.org.uk or writing to The Blue Cross Ashley Priors Lane, Watcombe, Torquay, Devon, TQ1 4SE. The winner will be notified by the end of July.

The Blue Cross relies entirely on public donations and receives no government funding. The Blue Cross has been rehoming cats in Torbay since 1987. All animals leave the centre having been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and have six weeks' free pet insurance.
