The Blue Cross, Britain's pet charity, is offering animal-loving adventurers the unforgettable experience of guiding their own team of huskies through the wilderness of Lapland, in aid of the charity's work caring for needy animals. After flying to Norway, participants will meet the team of huskies that will be their constant companions for the rest of the trip. The relationship between handler and dogs is vital for safety and group members will learn how to look after their dogs as well gaining sledding skills. Sleeping in native Sami tents, watching the Aurora Borealis and tending to their team of dogs, will help participants gain an insight into living as Laplanders do. Participants will spend six days sledding through rolling highlands and deep forest into the heart of Lapland, eventually crossing the Swedish border, journeying through wild and untouched nature before arriving for a short stop at the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi. Heather Collin, events co-ordinator at The Blue Cross said: As a charity we are dependent on the support given to us by our supporters and fundraisers. This is a unique opportunity to take part in the challenge of a lifetime while raising money for a good cause. The Blue Cross is one of Britain's oldest animal welfare charities and relies entirely on donations to fund its valuable work. Participants of this trek will be asked to pledge a minimum amount of sponsorship.
