A decade of dogs in the workplace Thank you to everyone who supported the tenth anniversary of Take Your Dog to Work Day, making it such a great success. This year over 2,000 dogs joined their owners at work, helping raise awareness of the work of The Blue Cross and the problem of Britain's 'home alone' dogs. With generous sponsorship from Hills Pet Nutrition, plus fundraising activities taking place in workplaces across Britain, The Blue Cross is hoping to raise over £25,000. A real mixture of people got involved by taking their dog to their workplace with them and raising funds for The Blue Cross. From government office workers to interior designers, dance school teachers to beauticians, they all enjoyed a work day with their canine friends and for a very good cause. Thousands of people joined forces for the event, that highlights the findings of research that dogs can have a positive effect on the mental and physical well-being of people around them. Blue Cross research has shown that as many as one million dogs left behind while their owners are at work may suffer from home alone syndrome, displaying signs of anxiety and depression.
