The Blue Cross has received £40,000 raised by the Peter O'Sullevan charitable trust, at a presentation at Newbury racecourse on 20 May. The trust raised £240,000 in total and donated an equal amount from that total to six welfare charities: The Blue Cross, Brooke Hospital for Animals, Compassion in World Farming, ILPH, Racing Welfare and The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre. The money was raised throughout 2005 from sales of a specially commissioned oil painting of Racehorses called The Three Winter Kings , which was made into a Christmas card. Money was also raised through an auction at the annual Peter O' Sullevan Award luncheon held at the Savoy Hotel in November 2005. The presentation (left) featured Sir Peter O' Sullevan himself, and representatives from the six benefiting charities. |
