Pickles bounces back

Pickles, the lucky Jack Russell terrier who escaped death after being involved in a double car crash has been given the all clear by vets at The Blue Cross animal hospital. Pickles was brought to the charity's Victoria hospital by a passer-by who saw the accident take place in Catford, south London in June.

A newspaper appeal to trace the little dog's owner led to the owner calling to say he was struggling to look after Pickles and so the charity will find him a loving new home from its animal adoption centre in Burford, Oxfordshire.

Nigel Smith, Blue Cross vet said: "We took an x-ray of Pickles to see how he was healing following the surgery to his hip. Although he is still a bit reluctant to walk on his injured leg it is doing very well. He does need to use it more though and will need lots of exercise to help the healing process, so a new home in the countryside is just what the doctor ordered."
