A dog that was abandoned by a woman in Wroxham, Norwich, has gone on to take an esteemed title in a national agility competition.

Just two years after Demon the Australian Kelpie/Jack Russell cross was re-homed with Helen Anderson, he has been crowned top dog in the final of the Supadog Agility Rescue League, reports the Norwich Evening News.

It is thought that Demon was taken to Battersea Dogs Home after being found by a passerby as he was wandering the streets as a stray.

"This was a special win because it is such a fantastic event, celebrating the success of pets like Demon who have overcome hardship to grow into happy and healthy active dogs," Ms Anderson told the Evening News.

Christine Neasham, marketing director at Burgess, which makes Supadog dog food, supports the event and claimed that agility really benefits dogs like Demon who have had a "rough start in life".

The Supadog Agility Rescue League was set up to recognise the achievements of rescue dogs and for a way for owners and their dogs to bond.ADNFCR-1137-ID-18655212-ADNFCR
