Police are calling on members of the public to provide any information they may have on a fatal horse incident at a Hampshire field.
The corpse of a black and white filly was discovered last Sunday (June 29th) at Windmill Hill, Alton.
Authorities believe that thieves or yobs may have tied a piece of rope around the horse's neck. This in turn led to the animal being strangled to death when the material became entangled on a nearby tree stump.
Pc Stacy Beale, Hampshire Police's equine liaison officer, said: "The horse would have suffered for some time before she died.
"This area is very popular with families and dog walkers and we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the field over the weekend."
She also added that no other horses in the field had suffered a similar fate and that Hampshire Police are attempting to trace the animal's owner.
