The distraught owners of a pregnant mare are offering an award for information on her attacker.

Millie was found by her owners, Graham and Kate Jones, who noticed that the horse had sustained injuries including neck wounds, a laceration to her leg and bruising.

Following medical treatment, vets are expecting Millie to recover but are concerned that she may lose her foal.

Mrs Jones explained that it appears that the attacker attempted to ride Millie who fell over obstacles in the field where she sustained her injuries.

Despite medical intervention her owner fears she may be permanently scarred by the experience.

"She has a beautiful temperament and has a very gentle nature but she was very traumatised," she told the Kidderminster Shuttle.

"Although she has calmed down over the weekend, we just hope this incident has not affected her permanently."

Meanwhile, a horse owner in West Sussex is warning pet owners to be wary of rustlers who recently stole five of her ponies.
