Owner's guilt could lead to abandoned pets
A Blue Cross survey has revealed that some pet owners would feel too guilty to go to experts for help if they could no longer look after their pet. The charity wants to reassure pet owners that they will be welcomed and not judged by staff if they take the responsible decision of handing their pet to an animal adoption centre. (June 06)

Blue Cross benefits from charitable trust
The Blue Cross has received £40,000 raised by The Peter O'Sullevan charitable trust, at a presentation at Newbury racecourse on 20 May. The trust raised £240,000 in total and donated an equal amount to six welfare charities. (May 06)

Victoria hospital centenary
The Blue Cross Victoria animal hospital celebrated its centenary on Monday May 15. Veterinary staff dressed in period costume to join in the event to celebrate so many years of support for London's needy animals. From kennels to clinics, some were seen working as normal but wearing big, full skirts and stiff tweed suits. (May 06)

New veterinary clinic opens
The Blue Cross has opened a new veterinary clinic in the London borough of Merton to help the pets of people who cannot afford private veterinary fees. The clinic is a sister operation to the animal hospital in Merton, and is open on Tuesday afternoons only. (May 06)
