Adoption centre volunteer
Nicky Ireland with Chatty.
Nicky has worked at The Blue Cross adoption centre in Torbay for 20 years – first as a Saturday girl, then as a full-time animal welfare assistant, and now as a volunteer. Nicky says: “I love every aspect of the work – from sweeping up to grooming and spending time with the cats. It’s rewarding and therapeutic. Most cats love attention and I love the hands-on nature of the work.” “There are so many kittens and cats I helped look after this year. It was wonderful to see them rehomed – it makes all the work worthwhile.” |
